Conceptual Schemes

I’m working on my first three conceptual ideas for my thesis project Healing Center at the Tamarack Site! Each of these schemes focuses on utilizing the big site somehow, emphasizing the creation of an outdoor refuge healing garden, the garden’s relation to the existing buildings and creating extra spaces for community opportunities.
I used yellow string in these models to represent potential garden space and garden direction. The blue swatches are the existing building footprints and the white 3D model is a new form as an addition to the site.
Each of these schemes looks at a different way to support patients in their place of healing. Wrap is all about privacy and refuge, Commune is all about intuitive gathering, and Connect is all about community.
The next step is diving deeper into each of these schemes to identify the opportunities, the problems, actual circulations, and programmed zones for the 6 departments in my program - iteration after iteration to find the best match for the project. More on my process later!
